I'm Rome, Founder of 1X Stronger together.
 
I’ve been a serving soldier in the British Army since 2010 and still proudly serves today, the discipline, structure, adrenaline and purpose have helped shape me into the individual I am today.
 
Following deployment to Afghanistan in 2012 a number of my colleagues were injured physically and the results were plain for all to see. Alongside this I had a few friends come out and say they were suffering from mental health issues, but the shock came when I received a phone call telling me that a friend had ended his own life.
 
Despite being an outwardly looking tough bunch, many struggled, with a head full of noise and dark thoughts. The silence that follows deployment left me with my own mental health struggles and it is through these that I have put my pain into delivering something positive.
 
In 2020 I decided I needed to do something to support both myself and others and the concept of 1X was born a team that are stronger together.
 
Every year since I have taken time out each year to raise awareness and funds for charities supporting forces mental health to date we’ve raised over 30k.
 
One of the 1X team commented that Rome's commitment to veterans' causes has been widely recognised. He was awarded the prestigious Challenge Champion of the Year by Combat Stress for his outstanding contributions to fundraising and awareness. His drive and passion is the reason that 1X continues to grow.
